I cleaned a pet accident, why does it still smell?

So, Fido had a small pee accident on the carpet.  You reached for your trusty bottle of "pet accident specific cleaner", and read the instructions (again) and did what they said.  The spot came out and you no longer have a yellow spot and it doesn't smell.....today.  Unfortunately, when it comes to pet accidents, the part that is visible to you is only half the battle.  Removing that unsightly yellow spot is always priority #1 for a homeowner.  Priority #2 should be removing the part you can't see, which is what was absorbed by your carpet pad and subfloor.  Remember when addressing pet spots that you should view them as an iceberg.  The majority of the spot is "below the surface" in that big sponge called carpet pad.  So, when applying your "pet spot cleaner", remember to apply as much as your pet expelled when having the accident.  The bigger the animal, the more that will be required.  Sometimes, if the spot is a repeat spot, you may have to replace the pad in that area and treat the subfloor to remove all of the odor.  "Old" pet spots rear their ugly head when there is a lot of humidity in the air, or when it is hot.  Heaven's Best will soon be adding some videos online, and the first one will be on addressing pet spots.  Please check back to look for this video if pet spots are a problem in your house.  Heaven's Best cities of Service are Denver, Highlands Ranch, Cherry Hills, Lone Tree, Centennial, Littleton, Aurora, Highlands Ranch, Greenwood Village, Ken Caryl, Lakewood, and Englewood in Colorado.
